Our Denominations
Our church, United Christian Church, was founded in 1991 as a merger of two congregations: Trinity United Church of Christ and Pecan Springs Christian Church. Trinity UCC was originally founded in 1952 and was affiliated with United Church of Christ. Pecan Springs Christian Church was originally founded in 1957 and was affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
In 1989, the national denominations of the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ declared that “a relationship of full communion now exists between our two churches.” The ecumenical partnership rests on five pillars of acceptance and cooperation: a common confession of Christ; mutual recognition of members; common celebration of the Lord’s Supper/Holy Communion; mutual recognition and reconciliation of ordained ministries; and common commitment to mission.
Following the national declaration, these two churches merged to form our dual-denominational church...and the rest is history!

United Christian Church was formed in 1991 as two earlier congregations came together, and we're still coming together.
We are united and uniting.
