He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end."

Special Events and Opportunities this Advent
Outreach Collection
Our November and Advent Social Justice collection will be cold weather clothes such as gloves, hats, socks, coats, jackets, leggings, etc., which we will put in our Little Free Pantry. Clean, gently-used items in good shape will also be accepted. You may place your contributions directly into the Pantry, or in the baskets that the children carry around during worship. Let's keep all our neighbors warm this winter! |
Advent Music Opportunities
Our Music Ministry is delighted to announce multiple opportunities for folks to sing and ring in the season: Vocal Choir, Bell Choir, and Instrumental! The two choirs will begin rehearsing on Wednesday, November 15, break for Thanksgiving, and resume rehearsals on November 29. Instrumentalists will accompany hymns each Sunday throughout the season. Worship Music Leader Julie Stiles will be sending out music assignments, so please email [email protected] if you want to be a part of the musical fun. |
Advent Devotional Discussion
From Tuesday, November 21 to Tuesday December 12, our Tuesday afternoon Book Group will begin a new weekly discussion on Kate Bowler’s Advent Devotional "Bless the Advent We Actually Have." Please contact the church office for Zoom information or if you would like a printed copy of the Advent Devotional. The Advent devotional is daily, but the book group will focus on the Sunday blessings. All are invited to attend and participate. |
Advent Decorating / Crafts
On Sunday, November 26, following the 10am worship service, the building will undergo the Advent transformation! We need all hands on deck to put up the tree, wreath, garland, lights, and more. In addition to that, the Children's Ministry is sponsoring an Advent Craft Workshop for all ages. We will have supplies out in the Fellowship Hall for making beautiful Advent wreaths, calendars, and more. All ages are invited to take a part in this holiday fun. |
Friendsgiving Potluck
In addition to the decorating and crafting on Sunday, November 26, our Community Connections Team is hosting a church potluck. Since it's the weekend after Thanksgiving, this will be our UCC Friendsgiving of sorts. All are invited to bring a finger food snack to share (savory or sweet) and the church will provide lemonade and tea. Folks can enjoy the snacks as they decorate, craft, & remember all that we have to be thankful for. |
Youth Selling Poinsettias and Gift Cards
The UCC Youth will be selling poinsettia arrangements and gift cards as part of their fundraising for the 2024 Mission Trip. Poinsettias are $20 each and were grown at Down Home Ranch in Elgin. TX. Gift cards are available from many retailers, with a portion of the purchase being donated to our youth group. Click here to visit the fundraiser information webpage. Thanks for your support! |

Service for the Longest Night
For those experiencing loss or grief or sorrow, the holiday season can be difficult. In a season that emphasizes joy and "the hustle and bustle", we recognize that there are many emotions this time of year, and we set aside an evening to pause, reflect, and remember loved ones and past times. United Christian Church will hold a Service for the Longest Night on Thursday, December 21, at 7:00pm, officiated by Rev. Jenny Veninga. All are welcome at this lovely service of remembrance, which will also be live-streamed. |
On Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, we will offer many services! The morning 10am service will celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent, and the two evening services will be for Christmas Eve, as we herald the birth of Jesus Christ!
|
Worship on the First Sunday of Christmas Eve will be at 10am. The service will feature Christmas lessons and carols.
