2020 Pumpkin Patch
Well, 2020 Strikes Again!
Planning for the 2020 Pumpkin Patch was proceeding, pumpkins were ordered, and a delivery date was set and then the stay at home order by the City of Austin and Travis County was extended to December 15th. The planning committee reached out to the city to try to find out what that meant for our Patch this year and our ability to run it. The answer that came back from those in charge of enforcing the order was that pumpkin patches are not an essential business. We could open, but there were many restrictions such as limiting occupancy to 10 people and enforcing mask-wearing and social distancing that lead us to decide that it would be unwise this year to have the Pumpkin Patch. In addition, we were concerned that having the patch would expose our volunteers, many of whom are in vulnerable categories, to the virus plus we would be asking volunteers to enforce restrictions on customers who might be unwilling to follow directions. We look forward to having the Pumpkin Patch again in 2021 if conditions improve.
