October 17th Stewardship Letter
from Stephanie Mack and Pastor Laura
Dear UCC Austin Friends and Family,
Everything we are and everything we have really belongs to God. What we have has simply been put into our care for a little while.
So now we begin our stewardship campaign as a sign of our humble admission that we belong to God and that we are here in this world to fulfill God’s purpose. We invite all of you to offer your gifts of time, physical presence, and our bodies as instruments ready for God’s use in our community of faith.
We invite you to also offer your minds, seeking to learn how to think in harmony with God’s thoughts, so that we may do God’s will with greater understanding.
It is also time to consider what you might offer in the way of money and other financial resources, that those gifts may find their rightful use in God’s service and that we may all be saved from the cloud of selfishness and greed.
As we offer our gifts to this congregation, we pray that God’s life-creating power may reach out through us, putting new life into a dying and broken world.
We thank God for this world, for all of Creation, by offering up our stewardship and our commitment to making this a better place for our children and those who follow in our footsteps
May God bless our stewardship campaign, ever reminding us of the Great Commandment given to us by, Jesus, to love our neighbors in all that we do.

Pastor Laura's October Newsletter Article
The season of giving is almost here and its time for each of us to reflect on how our lives have been affected by the generosity of others. Each of us has received many gifts from our families, our friends, our teacher, and our church. We honor the generosity we have received by responding, in kind, with generous gifts to those God has entrusted to our care. This is the concept of paying it forward.
United Christian Church of Austin is a rare, progressive, family-friendly Christian voice here in Austin, and it is one that needs to not only be heard NOW—but also in the years to come. I know many of you have been drawn to our church community because of our extensive welcome and radical hospitality. No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey...you are welcome here!
As our chancel banner reminds us, we want to : “Be The Church—Protect the environment. Care for the poor. Embrace diversity. Reject racism. Forgive often. Love God. Fight for the powerless. Share earthly and spiritual resources. Enjoy this life.”
It is that time of year when we are all asked to share our “earthly and spiritual resources” by making a pledge, or a monetary commitment, to the 2020 budget. Your pledge will support the ongoing ministries of this church—our excellent worship, music, Christian Education, social justice outreach and spiritual development. You can make your pledge online today at https://www.uccaustin.org/support-the-work.html.
Thank you for your generous spirits now and in the future. God has blessed us so that we can, in turn, bless others!
See you in church,
