For Kids During Worship
Children are 110% welcome at both our 9am and 11am worship services with a special Children's Message in each service. Under normal operations, we also offer our Worship & Wonder program for kids K-5th grade during both services, and our 11 AM worship would include our Children's Offering. Given that our children are not vaccinated from Covid-19 yet, however, we're doing things a little differently for now.
9 AM Worship
The 9 AM service is currently outside in our outdoor sanctuary on the south side of our property. Children may remain with their families through the Children's Sermon, after which they will walk up to the playground area for crafts, games, stories, and time together. Children age 2 and above are asked to wear a mask at all times. A restroom is available indoors and we kindly ask that only one household enter the restroom at a time.
11 AM Worship
Worship bags filled with coloring sheets, manipulatives, and goodies galore are available for all children when they enter the sanctuary. There is also a shelf of books children may choose from to bring into worship. After the children's sermon, there will be no outside enrichment at this time, but we understand if your little one needs a break and you need to move around or step out. We will re-evaluate our procedures when children may be vaccinated.
During worship each Sunday, we set aside special time to spend with our young children. Each week, the kids are usually invited to come forward and share a word from God for them with our director of children's ministries or one of our pastors. For now, however, we are asking children to remain with their families for the message. We will re-evaluate our procedures when children may be vaccinated.
Children's Offering (Currently On Hold)
You're never too young to partner with God in the work of justice, peace, and compassion in the world. Every month we choose a local non-profit group to receive our Children’s Offering. We ask them for a list of items they need and then ask the congregation to purchase them and bring them to church. Sundays during the 11am worship service our youngest children collect the items on their way to Children's Message. At the end of the collection period, we deliver the collection to that group. Past collections have included: soup for the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Food Pantry, blankets for ARCH, socks and shoes for Iraqi workers on a military base, peanut butter for the Round Rock Serving Center, dog and cat food for the Humane Society, and food for Bethany Christian Church Food Pantry.
