Ash Wednesday is a day for facing our humanity full-on, for acknowledging our faults and frailty, but also our beauty. After all, though we are all just dust "and to dust we shall return," our human dust is made by God, blessed by God, and shared by God in Jesus. This check-in with hard truth and amazing grace--and the accompanying ancient signs of ash and oil-- may be a helpful way to start the Lenten season of reflection, repentance, and re-focusing ahead as we walk with Jesus through his life, death, and resurrection.
We'll be offering ashes on a drop-in basis during the lunch hour @ 11:45am-1:15pm. Then we'll be gathering for a simple soup supper starting @ 6pm and reflection (Brene Brown on vulnerability) and worship, including ashes, starting @ 7pm. www.UCCAustin.org
