Worship
For where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
--Matthew 18:20
Message from Rev. Timothy B. Tutt
Paul Jones is a theologian, Methodist seminary professor, social activist, and a brother of a Trappist order. In thinking about worship, he wrote:
“Unless there is a plot undergirding life’s pieces, the whole is a tale “told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing” (Shakespeare, MacBeth). But if there is a plot, then all human beings become actors in a drama whose roles are to search for the Playwright.
And worship? Worship is the play within The Play – the microcosm within the marcrocosm, the distillation of the whole, the order through which is disclosed the cosmic rhythm. Alfred Hitchcock always appeared somewhere in each of his motion pictures. Correlatively, the Christian faith centers in the certainty that in Jesus Christ, God made the consummate Guest Appearance. Formed by that plot, everything makes sense to us. Thus, while we are surrounded by a disorder that threatens our world, Christian worship is so ordered that in one hour we relive the plot that informs all space and time with meaning.
Worship is the supreme act of corporate faith, the gambling trust that although we cannot often see it, the whole cosmos is being shaped as history by the hands of God. Our dream of order becomes marinated in the promises of One who is faithful.”
Come, enter the drama with us.
Sunday Morning Worship Service
During our Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. we act out our faith in readings from the Bible and hearing sermons that are relevant, sing hymns, pray, bring our gifts for the work of the church, and invite people to join us in the journey of faith. Communion is celebrated at each worship service and is open to all, regardless of church affiliation or membership.
From the lighting of the altar candles through our sharing of communion, our hope is that, each week in worship, we “see the whole cosmos is being shaped by the hands of God.” Favorite hymns, contemporary music, classical anthems, lively sermons, and sincere prayers help us on that journey.
Guests are warmly welcomed as a part of our worshipping community. In an act of hospitality we offer large print bulletins, portable hearing devices, and worship activity packets for children.

Children During Worship
Children are an important part of our worship community. Each week, the children collect an offering of goods for a local charity. After that, the children come forward for a Children’s Time. After the Children’s Time, those between three years and second grade are invited to go to Children's Church. In Children’s Church, a Bible story is told, then the children are given creative time in Godly Play.
Children in third grade and above remain in the sanctuary with their parents. Clipboards with activity sheets and crayons are in the rear of the sanctuary for children.
Jazz Worship Service
On the fourth Sunday of each month (please check our calendar to confirm), we worship God with jazz music, led by incomparable jazz pianist Dr. Winton Reynolds, in addition to guests, usually Phil Borrero and Brad Taylor. Even if you don't come the rest of the time, stop by on the last Sunday for a lively worship and all that jazz!
