United Christian Church is a “Bread for the World” Covenant Church.
That means that our Church Council formally voted to:
- seek God’s message for us regarding our hungry brothers and sisters;
- learn about the causes of – and solutions to – hunger, emphasizing the role of public policy;
- help hungry people in our community;
- support efforts for hunger relief, development and education programs;
- participate corporately in the work of Bread for the World;
- encourage individual Christians to consider Bread for the World membership;
- give prominence to the needs of hungry people; and
- reflect in our lives an awareness of our role as stewards of God’s gifts.
We do this through worship, study, working, giving, and all our living. Our decision to become a Bread for the World Covenant Church came after a church-wide study called “Hunger No More.” To learn more about Bread for the World, go to www.bread.org. |
Being a Global Mission Church is one way of saying we care about the world. Our Church Council has voted that we will intentionally support Global Ministries, the international cooperative work of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ , and will engage in global missions.
We do this by learning about our denominational mission and heritage, evaluating our church’s mission in the world, creating mission opportunities, and having a strategic mission plan. To learn more about Global Ministries, go to www.globalministries.org. |
