Adult Study Groups

Sunday Adult Study Groups meet at 9:30-10:30 am and 10:45-11:45 am.  They meet in the classrooms behind the sanctuary on the Parmer Lane/south end of the building.  Because worship services are in progress at the same times, please enter the building through the single door (southwest) door.

Adult Study Groups

We have several ongoing adult study groups. The focus is on exploring new topics and group discussion; no preparation is necessary. Feel free to stop in at any time - you don't have to have been involved to join for a week!

9:30-10:30

Living the Credo
Bob & Karen Jones are leading this group in considering how we can live ever more faithfully in service to others, both personally and communally. The previous group has discussed William Sloane Coffin's "Credo", but you do not have to have been part of that group to talk about how we can live out our faith!

God's New Order: Christian Non-Violence in a World of Domination
Nikki Stahl and Ken White lead this group in thinking about how a world organized around the life and teachings of Jesus might look. We will explore cultural understandings of violence and domination, how we deal with structures of power, and how we might see in Jesus a third way. The curriculum will be based on the book "Engaging the Powers" by Walter Wink, but it will not be expected that participants are reading the book.

10:45-11:45

Spiritual Food for Thought: A Look at Literature and Non-Traditional Biblical Texts

Cindy Metcalf and Kay Fairbanks lead this group, which continues to look at thought-provoking works through the lenses of faith, finding expressions of God's truth and of the Way of Christ in often unexpected places.

If you have not been part of a study group before, this is a great time to start. Another perfect time to start, though, is whenever you are able to show up! All study groups are always open, so don't worry about whether you started when everyone else did or feel that you have to make some commitment - just come in and enjoy.
