Frequently Asked Questions

What can I (and my children) wear to church?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing is fine. Some of us dress up and other dress down. You can wear pearls and heels or casual slacks and a sport shirt, jeans or even shorts on a hot summer day. Children may have art projects or outdoor activities, so they should dress casually for active play.

Is there childcare/Sunday school during the worship service?
Children over the age of eight remain in the worship service, while younger children stay for the first 15-20 minutes for a gathering song and the Children’s Story at the front of the sanctuary. After that they go to Children’s Church for the remainder of worship. Childcare for infants and toddlers is always available on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. When there is a meeting or church gathering, child care is often available with several days' advance notice.

If my child doesn't separate well, can she or he stay with me in the service?
YES! If you find that you need to step out, you can go to the rear of the sanctuary and into the Fellowship Hall. Or, you may choose to attend Children’s Church with your child if that works best at first. Children may take part in worship with the grown-ups.

What goes on during the worship service and after the service?
Our Sunday service involves congregational singing, choral music, meditations, readings and a sermon by our pastor. Every Sunday communion is served. The service lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes. After every Sunday Service we have “Coffee and Conversation” in the Fellowship Hall.

Will I be pressured to join or be saved or donate?
No. We'll welcome you at the door. We'll send you our newsletter for a while. We'd be happy to have you join us, but we won't try to push ourselves onto you. We will never ask you to join on a first visit; we recommend you visit several times before you consider joining. Your faith is important; we’d love to talk to you about it.

Is your church accessible to all people?
Yes. All four restrooms and all doorways are wheelchair accessible. We have four large print hymnals and hearing devices are available every Sunday. Please ask the ushers for assistance.

Are you genuinely welcoming to all people?
We gather to worship, honoring our differences in age, race, gender, ability, class, sexual orientation, and national origin. We are all God’s children.
