What is Advent?
Advent is the season of hopeful waiting and preparation that leads up to Christmas in the church calendar. It helps us to remember all Jesus taught and did and look forward to the MORE God is doing for the world now and into the future. Here's a great short film to remind us about what Advent is about:

In Christmas from the Backside: A Different Look at the Story of Jesus' Birth, author J. Ellsworth Kalas offers a fresh take on the most traditional season about the most surprising story ever told.
12/3 & 12/10 Sunday mornings: POINSETTIA SALE
Purchase poinsettias to decorate the sanctuary on December 17, then be delivered to folks living at the Pavilion assisted living center. Sales go to support the youth mission trip next summer. $20/plant
12/10 Sunday @ 11am: UNITED CHRISTIAN FAMILY NO-STRESS CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
No lines, no rehearsals. Any child who shows up (a bit early, please!) may pick a costume to help tell the story of Jesus’ birth.
12/17 Sunday @ 2pm: CAROLING AND DELIVERING POINSETTIAS to The Pavilion, a local assisted living center
12/21 Thursday@ 7:00 pm: LONGEST NIGHT WORSHIP SERVICE
An intimate service of music, meditation, and prayer for any for whom the holiday season may be difficult due to loss, pain, or confusion, personal or communal.
12/24 Sunday: 4th SUNDAY OF ADVENT SERVICE OF PRAYER @ 10am
12/24 Sunday: CHRISTMAS EVE WORSHIP @ 4pm “Full House” child-friendly worship; @ 11pm “O Holy Night” candlelight worship service
12/31 Sunday: ONE WORSHIP SERVICE @ 10am, POTLUCK LUNCH, & RAINBOW ELEPHANT (RE)GIFT-SWAP to follow
Enjoy worship, lunch, and brace yourself for the fun of the gift swap! Bring a gift that didn’t quite work for you and re-gift it though the swap. Others can pick it or pass it on to someone else who’ll love it more.
